Poem, "My Christmas List"

Fruit of the Spirit Ministry

Three more days to go and I have nothing to show.
What do you give a person that has everything?
Certainly not a house, car, or a ring.

No stockings hanging by my chimney with care,
Hoping that a stranger named "St. Nick" will be there.
As I prepare to write down all the names,
I began to sense a feeling of shame.

For it's only three more days to go,
and I have nothing to show.

I glanced through the newspaper for coupon seals,
television for visual ideals.
Walked right pass the book on the table,
paid no attention to the shining label.

What do you give the person that has everything?
Certainly not a house, car, or a ring.

As I laid down to take a nap,
Exhausted from having on my thinking cap.
The book with the shining label remained on the table.

"Maybe I'll read before I sleep."
"Don't want to trouble myself with anything too deep."

I turned the page in the book to something that said,
"St. John 3:16."
I sat and I read.

"This is the most perfect gift to give!"
"Who wouldn't want to have life and eternally live?"

I wrapped it up in my heart with joy, placed a name tag
for every man, woman, girl, and boy.

So, what do you give the person that has everything?
A life time membership with "Christ, the Son."
Thank God!  My list is done.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks Lorrie for your comment. Sometimes we do tend to forget, but every time I hear my mother's (eighty-three years old) voice, I'm reminded again of how blessed I am.

Nice to read and what a wonderful message. Unfortunately, for some people this message only lasts for the Christmas season. But the message is for all time, every day, every month, every year and the gift is for eternity.

Yes, I agree that is unfortunate. We can only pray that on each given day one more will come to know the real truth just as we have.

Thank you for your comment.

Thank you Deborah from Jonesboro. It really makes an author feel "special" when they receive a comment from their very own "hometown." :-)

Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays to you Sue and thank you for your comment. Just wanted to help out those who are troubled by not having extra finances this year to buy all those lovely gifts. There's something more valuable to give that doesn't requires one to borrow, run up the credit cards, or dip into the investments because its free.
